Saab Engine Parts
Saab was incepted in the center of Scandinavia, from a firm institution of innovation and advanced designs, which resulted in forward thinking solutions and inspired vehicles powered with an appreciation for the environment. Saab’s auto parts provide all Saabs with the original parts, based on the same practice of innovation and elite designs. With more than 50 years of Saab history, they are respected and known for their experience and technical knowledge. Between 2005 and 2007, Saab extended its warranties on certain models with established engine issues. Saab provided a statement in 2005 that explained why warranties needed to be further extended to cover an engine sludge issue. This Saab engine failure issue was a result of sludge accumulating in the engine from oil thickening. The moisture and contaminants end up breaking down oil, and force it to thicken and gel up over time. The engine is not properly lubricated when the oil gels up and seizures can be brought on when this happens. If you are not comfortable doing the repairs yourself and directions below you can contact your local mechanic or Saab dealership. There, they will be able to drop Your Saab’s oil pan and inspect for sludge while you are in for regular maintenance, but you should expect to pay for it. FCP Euro has an assortment of Saab engine parts and components, including all parts for Saab’s vehicle line up.

Even if the oil pan or oil pickup screen has some sludge, your Saab may not be damaged yet. If it has been driving normally and the oil pressure light has not lit up, your Saab should be in good shape. Just remember to get your oil changes regularly and think about switching from Saab's suggested semi-synthetic oil to a full synthetic. In the Saab’s letter to vehicle owners, they pointed to four models that were particularly affected by the engine sludge issue. Both Saab 9-3 and 9-5 were prone to engine sludge. Saab 9-5 models with four-cylinder engines produced from 1999 to 2003, 9-3 models made from 2000 to 2002, 9-3 convertibles made between 2000 and 2003, and 9-3 Viggens created between 1999 and 2002 all were affected. The initial five-year manufacturer's warranty was extended to eight after Saab found the engine sludge problem. All affected vehicles were given unlimited mileage, even though Saab expected that only four percent of engines would fail. Regular oil changes help prevent this issue.
